Position Title: Senior Mechanic
Location: 1497 Adanac Street, Vancouver, BC or 1419 Broad Street, Victoria, BC
Position Types: Permanent Full-Time (37.5 hours/week, some weekend availability)
Reports To: Service Manager
Compensation: $25.00/hour base + performance bonus of $7 per booked billable hour. Typical effective rate: ~$30–$33/hour(depending on shop volume and booked hours).

The Senior Mechanic is a key member of the Bici Vancouver or Victoria service team, responsible for delivering high-quality bike builds, repairs, and maintenance while upholding Bici and brand standards. This role plays an important customer-facing function through service writing, clear communication, and ensuring bikes are safe, reliable, and ready for use.

Senior Mechanics combine strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and leadership skills to support day-to-day service operations while helping develop junior mechanics and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment.

Key Accountabilities:

Bike Service & Technical Work

  • Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on mountain, road, and gravel bikes
  • Conduct detailed assessments to accurately identify repair and service needs
  • Build, repair, and prepare bikes in accordance with brand and Bici standards
  • Inspect and complete quality assurance checks on new bikes prior to customer delivery

Customer & Team Communication

  • Provide clear, accurate service writing with detailed notes in work orders
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding required, ongoing, or completed work
  • Collaborate closely with the Bicicletta team to ensure service expectations are aligned
  • Maintain clear communication channels across Bici teams

Team Support & Development

  • Support and train new and junior mechanics through hands-on guidance and mentorship
  • Share technical knowledge and best practices to strengthen overall service quality

Operations & Shop Standards

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean workspace at all times
  • Ensure tools, workstations, and service areas are properly maintained
  • Follow all Bici policies, procedures, and service workflows

Expectations & Outcomes:

  • Bikes are built, repaired, and serviced correctly and within agreed timelines
  • Quality or safety concerns are identified and reported to the Team Leader and Warranty team
  • Workstations remain organized, clean, and safe
  • Technical skills continue to develop to support broader service team needs
  • Strong communication and training practices help develop junior mechanics

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry bicycles, parts, and equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining focus on service quality.

This role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and collaboration. The Senior Mechanic supports a wide range of service needs while contributing to a positive team environment and upholding Bici’s standards for quality, safety, and customer experience.
