Bike Shipping and Assembly Policy
How Are Bikes Shipped?
At Bici, we strive to provide an exceptional experience for customers who choose to have their new bikes shipped to them. Our goal is for each bicycle to arrive 85%–95% assembled to ensure the customer only has to do minimal assembly out of the box.
Every bike undergoes a thorough build process prior to shipping. We fully assemble and test ride each bicycle to confirm everything is functioning perfectly. This allows us to catch any issues in advance, ensuring there are no surprises when you unbox your new bike and that only minor assembly is required upon arrival.
The Bici Standard For Shipping Bikes
Our bikes are delivered to the customer 85-95% assembled. While our build process involves full 100% assembly, minor disassembly is necessary for shipping.
Our Process:
- The bike is fully assembled and test ridden.
- All torque specifications are met.
- Brake and shifting performance checks are passed.
- All bearings are inspected and properly lubricated and adjusted.
- The bike is inspected for cosmetic blemishes and factory defects
- Electronic components have their firmware verified and updated (if applicable).
- eBikes must have the latest available software installed.
- The bike is photographed (if required for documentation).
Any customer-requested modifications or accessory installations are completed before the bike is packaged for shipment.
To achieve this high level of completion, we use shipping boxes slightly larger than those provided by our vendors. This allows us to ship the bicycle in a more fully assembled state than when it originally arrived at our shop from our vendors.
The Customer "To-Do" List
Expect to spend 10 to 40 minutes on assembly if you are comfortable with basic tools. You will generally need to:
- Install the Handlebars: You’ll likely need to bolt the faceplate of the stem onto the bars. These will commonly have a standard torque value that should be followed.
- Attach the Front Wheel: Usually via a quick-release skewer or a thru-axle.
- Insert the Seatpost: Sliding it in and tightening the clamp to your preferred height. Make sure to use grease (Aluminum post in aluminium frame) or Carbon Paste (Carbon posts in Carbon or Aluminum frames) and torque to spec.
- Install Pedals: Crucial Note: The left pedal is reverse-threaded (lefty-tighty). If you force it the wrong way, you’ll strip the crank arm.
- Inflate Tires: They ship with low pressure for safety during transit.
Tools You’ll Need
- Metric Hex Key Set: (4mm, 5mm, and 6mm are the most common).
- Torque Wrench is highly recommended
- Pedal Wrench: Or a 15mm thin open-ended wrench. 6mm or 8mm allen in some cases
- Grease and/or Carbon Paste: For the seatpost and pedal threads to prevent seizing.
- Floor Pump: With a pressure gauge.
Tip: Many manufacturers' warranties require the bike to be "professionally assembled." If you aren't confident, taking it to a local bike shop for a "Safety Check" or "Build" is a smart investment for your safety and piece of mind.
Is There An Additional Charge For Shipping Bikes?
Regular price bicycles qualify for free shipping, providing you with added value.
However, sale/demo bikes and trainer bikes incur a separate shipping fee of $195.
Bike Assembly Q&A
What Should I Do If The Bike Isn’t Working Perfectly After I Build It?
If something doesn’t feel quite right after setup, don’t worry, our Rider Support Team is here to help.
Email us: hello@bici.cc
Call Us: 778 719 3080
Our team can:
- Walk you through basic adjustments over the phone or via email.

What If The Bike Is Damaged During Shipping?
If you notice any damage when unboxing your bike:
- Stop – Do not ride the bike.
- Document the issue with photos.
- Contact our Rider Support Team for support and next steps.
Riding a damaged bike may pose safety risks and can affect your warranty.
Will The Wheels Be Setup Tubeless?
We are happy to configure your new bike with a tubeless setup prior to shipping upon request. To ensure your bike arrives exactly how you want it, please note the following:
- Tubeless setup is an opt-in service. To have your tires set up tubeless, you must notify a member of our Sales Team at the time of purchase or before your order enters the assembly phase. Your bike must also have tubeless compatible rims, tires, and valves.
While we take every precaution to prevent sealant leaking, shipping involves fluctuations in temperature and pressure that may cause tires to lose air.
- If a tire deflates during transit, there is a small risk that the bead may unseat, potentially allowing liquid sealant to escape into the shipping carton.
- Arrival Maintenance: We recommend checking your tire pressure immediately upon unboxing. You may need to add a small amount of air to re-engage the seal if the pressure has dropped during the journey.
Do All Bikes Require The Same Amount Of Assembly?
Unfortunately No. While we strive for consistency, some high-performance models require more technical setup than our standard builds. These typically arrive with a few more components to install to ensure they aren't damaged during transit.
However, our team works hard to ensure every bike is significantly more assembled when it leaves our shop than when we received it from the vendor. We’ll do everything we can to reduce the amount of assembly required of the customer.
Models often requiring additional assembly:
- Road and Gravel bikes with integrated bar/stem systems.
- Triathlon and TT bikes - due to complex cabling and extensions.
- Custom builds - involving detailed, specific fit measurements.
Our Guarantee: If your specific bike deviates from our standard build level, we will always notify you prior to shipping so you can plan accordingly.
Can You Setup My Suspension And Dropper Post Before Shipping?
Yes! We’re happy to get your bike as "dialed" as possible before it leaves our shop. To take advantage of this, please notify a member of our Sales Team at the time of purchase or before your order enters the assembly phase.
While we aim for a perfect out-of-the-box fit, please keep the following details in mind:
- Suspension: To provide the best ride quality immediately, we pre-set your suspension to the manufacturer’s optimal base guidelines based on your specific weight and riding style.
- Cable-Actuated Dropper Posts: We will customize your dropper post cable and housing length using your provided inseam for a clean, professional cockpit.
- Note: To ensure safe and secure packaging during transit, the dropper post may be uninstalled when you receive the bike. However, the cable and housing will be fully pre-routed and ready for a quick final setup.
