Position Title: Mountain Bike Service Technician
Location: Jordie Lunn Bike Park, Langford, BC
Position Type: Seasonal / Full-Time (including weekends and peak riding periods)
Reports To: Service Lead
Compensation: $24–$27 per hour

The Mountain Bike Service Technician is responsible for ensuring bikes are safe, dialed, and ready for the demands of modern MTB riding. This role focuses on high-quality repairs, preventative maintenance, and efficient service to support riders in a fast-paced, trail-focused environment.

Technicians combine strong mechanical skills with attention to detail and clear communication, helping riders stay on the trails while maintaining a high standard of safety and performance.

Key Accountabilities

Bike Service & Technical Work

  • Perform repairs and maintenance primarily on mountain bikes, including suspension, drivetrains, and braking systems
  • Diagnose issues quickly and accurately in a high-use, high-wear environment
  • Complete safety inspections to ensure bikes are park-ready
  • Maintain rental/demo fleets (if applicable), ensuring consistent performance and reliability
  • Identify and address safety concerns or recurring mechanical issues

Rider Communication

  • Communicate clearly with riders about bike issues, service timelines, and recommended repairs
  • Provide efficient, practical solutions to get riders back on the trails safely
  • Ensure a positive and professional service experience

Team Support & Knowledge Sharing

  • Support junior staff or volunteers with basic maintenance knowledge and safe practices
  • Share best practices for maintaining bikes under park riding conditions

Operations & Service Area Standards

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient service area, even during busy periods
  • Ensure tools and equipment are in good working order and readily accessible
  • Follow all safety procedures and service workflows

Expectations & Outcomes

  • Bikes are serviced quickly, correctly, and with safety as the top priority
  • Riders receive clear, honest communication and feel confident in their equipment
  • Service area remains organized and efficient during peak times
  • A high standard of service quality and reliability is consistently maintained
  • A positive and professional service environment is upheld

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and maneuver bicycles and equipment regularly
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to stay focused and efficient in a fast-paced environment

Scope of Role

This role requires strong mountain bike-specific mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure. The Mountain Bike Service Technician plays a key role in supporting rider safety and ensuring bikes are always ready to perform in a demanding bike park setting.
