The Shimano 105 ST-R7120 left shifter operates the front derailleur in a 2x12 mechanical drivetrain, using a reshaped blade for a shorter reach to the lever. This lets riders with a wider range of hand sizes shift comfortably, while light shifting operation keeps effort low on long rides.

The paired front hydraulic caliper uses mineral oil fluid and offers wider pad clearance than its predecessor, cutting down on rotor rub. A low-friction inner cable and housing keep the mechanical shift action smooth, and resin brake pads with a cooling fin are included.
