The PD-R8200 brings Shimano's new SPD-SL R pedal system to the Ultegra tier, sharing the same interlocking design as the flagship PD-R9300. It's part of a new system — the PD-R8200 pairs exclusively with Shimano's new CL-SL100/110/120/130 cleats and is not backward compatible with previous-generation SPD-SL pedals or cleats.
A wider cleat catch and a roughly 4.6° narrower pedal angle make it easier to click into, a thinner rear pedal body improves ground clearance for walking, and a trimmed structure keeps overall weight down. It's offered in Standard and a +4mm Long Axle option for riders who need extra stance width.
