The Maxxis Aspen 32x2.40 is a folding, tubeless ready mountain tire built around the MaxxSpeed compound, a silica-filled rubber developed with input from Nino Schurter and claimed to cut rolling resistance by more than 25%. EXO sidewall protection adds cut and abrasion resistance through a densely woven fabric layer, while the 120 TPI casing keeps the tire supple and light.
A low centre tread profile keeps rolling resistance down, while supportive side knobs provide cornering traction on loose or hardpack terrain. The Wide Trail profile suits internal rim widths between 25 and 30mm, with 30mm considered optimal, and the folding bead allows use front or rear. Maxxis recommends at least 6mm of clearance between the tire and the frame or fork.
